Although Bata has in general remained neutral in terms of public support, hasnt any presence in Israel and does have a store in Palestine (Area A Nablus), the key shareholder in Bata India is Athletes World Ltd. (owns 50%), who is a subsidiary of Canadian Tire. This company (Canadian Tire) has been carrying Israeli products, including those from illegal settlements (according to Canada Palestine Association and CJPME) and it is also the sponsor of the event called "Walk with Israel" (according to Canadian BDS). Bata India is the largest retailer and leading manufacturer of footwear in India and is a part of the Bata Shoe Organization it also carries "complicit brands" like Hush Puppies and Nine West (In both of these brands parent companies Black Rock has significant investments or they are complicit in other ways)
