To truly make change we need to get local in our efforts and strengthen alternative businesses in every part of the world.
WHO ARE WE?
We’re Nadia and Shehzad, a Palestinian-Irish and Kashmiri-Canadian wife and husband. An art teacher and a financial analyst.
We've followed the money trails, researched and ranked thousands of companies based on their support of Palestine, and are adding more daily.
For years we have protested against war and inequality overseas and here in America. This time is different. As a genocide unfolds in Palestine, people everywhere and even a close family member have faced disciplinary action from schools and employers for speaking out.
The continued silence and outright support of political leaders and corporations, despite widespread public opposition, has made it clear to us and billions of people of conscience. Nothing will be the same again.
We must use our collective economic strength to rally against the profiteering and politics that has enabled this brutal occupation. This mission led us to create DisOccupied.

A movement that amplifies the companies and brands we SHOULD be supporting.
Making it easier for you to DISOCCUPY your minds, closets, wallets, and lives from any organization that continues to be complicit in this injustice.
We wont stop until every product from every complicit brand anywhere in the world is assigned a comparable alternative that aligns with justice.
WHAT ARE OUR GOALS?
To pressure businesses to advocate for a just solution in Palestine that ensures every individual is equal.
To promote socially conscious businesses, so our money is not used to further violence and inequality.
To challenge the economic and political influence of multinational companies and lobby groups.
To extend this action to companies ignoring basic human rights anywhere in the world. We're starting with Palestine, but we see you.
HOW ARE WE FUNDED?
We’re doing the research ourselves, and have paid for web development out of pocket and with the support of friends and family.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We built this site with urgency and know that there is a lot of room for improvement. With brand submissions coming in from all over the world, we really need to have dynamic features like mapping to show alternatives where Users actually live.
DisOccupied 2.0 should be a Web App with location based content, abilty for Users to easily get involved in digital campaigns to pressure businesses, and community building to interact with Users.
Through our involvement with Tech For Palestine, we’ve met some amazing digital talent who live in Palestine. We would love to hire them full-time for help with research, content creation, IT administration, and to build an improved platform.
